The Highlander neighborhood in North Omaha is now the home of a major revitalization project currently underway. This project is the product of a Purpose Built Model. This type of model has been successfully implemented across the US in low-income areas with issues like intergenerational poverty, unsafe environments, high crime, and failing schools. You kind of have to see the change to believe it. The almost 40-acre stretch of land will have apartment housing, traditional homes, indoor and outdoor event spaces, food hall, greenhouse, community garden, swimming pool, dog park, and playground. And that is just to name a fraction of the amenities this community will have to offer. I am really excited to see what this will bring to North Omaha and the surrounding areas. I’m looking forward to experiencing the finished product.
