Seems like a lot, right? Well over the next several years, Omaha will see a total of 1,500 new hotel rooms to accommodate our guests. That’s an increase of about 10% from today’s total. Not many folks would consider Omaha a tourist destination, but we’re slowly changing that perception. With events that draw national attention like the Olympic Swim Trials and the College World Series, we’re starting to lose our title as a “flyover state.” Beyond those major events, Omaha has become a popular destination for people from our more rural surrounding areas. In fact, Visit Omaha reports 65-70% of hotel demand comes from outside of those large scale events and conventions.
